Honest Burger - Soho - London

Summer is coming.

This means everyone is hitting the gym that bit harder to get those steel abs.

Everyone except me [despite the fact that I should really be training for the British 10k].

So, what do I do instead?

Go hunting for burgers...

I found Honest Burger's second branch hidden away in the side streets of Soho, the original Honest Burger joint is in Brixton.

You know if a restaurant is located opposite flats harbouring signs like this... you have totally hit the jackpot.

Scandalous.

[I jest, I jest] :P

Ambiance

The restaurant is quite small but feels roomy due to the high ceilings, and the simple vintage furnishings.

The Blues plays in the background, and the service is relaxed despite there being a queue of hungry burger fiends like myself; giving Honest Burger that chilled out atmosphere that everyone loves.

YES-O-METER

Fritter Burger: £6.50 - J. was going through a vegetarian mood and opted for the fritter; this was made from cauliflower, sweetcorn, shallots, spices, coriander, and had a cucumber yoghurt sauce.

The result? A light, well seasoned/spiced fritter with just enough of the cucumber yoghurt sauce lathered on top that it wasn't soggy.

Not bad for a vegetarian option, and definitely different to all the 'portobello mushroom burgers' you normally see in other Burger places for the veges.

Dare I say that the fritter burger was actually better than the cheese burger.

Cheese Burger: £8.00 - Beef, red onion relish, lettuce and the choice of Cheddar, Red Leicester or Stilton.

I like my burgers medium rare, purely because I'm a monster who likes to see my beef still beating; but unfortunately it came to me cooked medium, meaning it was alittle dry, and I found it slightly lacking in flavour, that not even the onion relish could save it.

I honestly was abit disappointed.

Chips: Faultless. Dusted with Rosemary salt, were crispy and so soft all at the same time. They are how chips should be.

There is potential here, but just doesn't quite hit the spot. But that just means I need to come back and resample the goods. ;]
