Shake Shack Vs. Five Guys - Covent Garden - London

Two burger power houses have invaded the UK from the US.

Both trying to compete for glory in the Burger War that has gripped London.

To test which burger had more strength, I needed to go to both burger joints ;]

It's a serious science.
Shake Shack

Originating from a mere hot dog cart in Manhattan, New York back in 2004, ShackShake has taken the US by storm and is now slowly trying to take over the world; one city at a time.

How did ShakeShack fare in London?

For £5.00 I went for the ShackBurger (basically a cheeseburger), plus crinkle cut fries at £2.50 and a caramel frozen custard shake for £4.50.

Armed with my Shake and my Shack Burger I was ready for my experimental testing.

Patty & Bun - Bond Street - London

Holy mother of cheese.

Mark my words you will be screaming those exact same words.

How do I know this?

Because that was my reaction when I took my first bite of what-so-far is the mother of all burgers that has hit London.

Along St. Jame's Street just off Bond Street is Patty and Bun.

London's worst kept secret.

With burgers named like The Ari Gold (those who watch Entourage will understand), and The Lambshank Redemption; you really cannot walk by without stopping just to stare.

There are only 6 burgers on the menu.

Each one a character in their own right. (And rightfully named.)

Choose wisely.

We went for The Lambshank Redemption, The Jose Jose, and The Smokey Robinson.

Burger and Lobster - Farringdon - London

If you live in London, I'm sure you would have heard of Burger and Lobster.

Since it first opened last December in Mayfair, B&L has been creating heatwaves in the atmosphere.

So hot that it was necessary to open branches in Soho, and most recently in Farringdon both in the same year.

The concept is simple:

3 Choices:

Beef Burger (Beef burger, with optional bacon and cheese)

Lobster (You know just a huge, stonking lobster with a jug of garlic and lemon butter)

Or

Lobster Roll (Cold lobster served on toasted brioche with a dash of wasabi mayo or lemon and garlic dressing)

All served with salad and chips.

Priced at £20 each.

B&L have recently introduced sharing lobster options, which is basically a bigger, and more badass lobster weighing up to ~10bl for £150 with unlimited salad and chips (Prices start from £60 onwards; for the sharing lobsters depending on size).

Anyway for £20, for a whole lobster? Sweet Mother may I?!?!

Byron Hamburgers - Covent Garden - London

Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve been on the hunt for  ‘THE ULTIMATE BURGER.’ A quest that has yet to be successful but with the growing number of American  diners/restaurants popping up around London; my journey has only really just begun.

Normally I am quite sceptical about chain restaurants; however Byron is actually pretty damn sexual.

The clean simple décor of Byron lead to a chilled out atmosphere, and I fell comfortably into the sofa seat. Definitely a place for a relaxed evening with friends, the staff were friendly and not at all pushy unlike some you find in other dare-I-say ‘fast food restaurants.’
